LYSI BOARD OF DIRECTORS

Gunnlaugur Sævar Gunnlaugsson - Chairmain of the Board

Gunnlaugur has been on the LYSI board of directors since 1999 as chairman.  He holds a degree in law from the University of Iceland (1986).

Gunnlaugur was the manager of the representative body of the Independence party in Reykjavík 1984-1987, CEO of Faxamjol (meal production company) 1988-2000 and CEO of UVS pharmaceuticals 2000-2004. Gunnlaugur currently holds many board positions, including as chairman of the board of  Isfelag Vestmannaeyja (fishing company) and  ISAM (importer/wholesaler) and as a board member of Rammi.

Magnus Magnusson – Director

Magnus holds a cand. oceon. degree in business administration from the University of Iceland (1990) and a master’s degree in international trade from Norges Handelshøyskole (1994).

Magnus is employed as division manager in Landsbanki and has previously worked for various financing companies such as Bunaðarbanki and Lysing.

Magnus holds various board positions, including as board member for Icelandair Group.

Sigurbjorn Magnusson - Director

Sigurbjorn is an attorney and partner at Juris law firm. He holds a cand. jur. degree from the University of Iceland (1985), was admitted to practice before the District Courts in 1990 and the Supreme Court in 1996.

In addition to his work at the law firm, Sigurbjorn held the position as lawyer at the Ministry of Commerce in 1984-1985 and manager of  the Independence party in 1985-1990.

He has served on several boards and committees in the past and currently holds many board positions for various companies and organizations.

Katrin Petursdottir – CEO and Alternate Director

Katrin has been CEO of LYSI since 1999 when she purchased the company.  She holds a degree in industrial operations from the Technical University of Iceland (1988).

From the age of 17, Katrin operated the trading company Hnotskurn, until she sold the company in 1988. She then founded a new company under the same name in 1991 alongside her parents, Erla Tryggvadottir and Petur Petursson.

The company, located in Thorlakshöfn, processed cod heads for export and was then merged with LYSI in 2004.

Katrin has served on the boards of various companies and organizations such as Iceland Chamber of Commerce, Reykjavik University, Bakkavor, Glitnir and Isal.
