Last December BSI (British Standards Institute) certified that LYSI now fulfils the requirements of the BRC Global Standard for Food Safety.
The consumption of fish oil is quite common in the UK. Therefore it was of considerable importance for LYSI to achieve the certification but all the major UK retail chains require their suppliers to have the BRC certification.
LYSI’s quality system can be traced back to 1992 when its quality system was certified as ISO 9002 by BSI. The system has since been developed and modified to reflect both changes in the quality standards and changes within the company and it is now certified as ISO 9001.
LYSI has also been audited by the Icelandic Medicines Agency which subsequently issued two Certificates of GMP (API) compliance, one for the factory and the other for the retail packing unit. These certificates are important as many of LYSI’s customers are pharmaceutical companies who need their suppliers to have API certification.
