The year 2007 proved to be yet another milestone for LYSI.
In June the company was declared GMP compliant for its bottling and packaging operations in the new plant by the Icelandic Medicines Control Agency and later, in October, a GMP approval for API production was obtained. Previously, LYSI had been GMP compliant for the packaging operation of the old plant. GMP stands for the control and management of manufacturing and quality control testing of pharmaceutical products.
The certification follows logical continuation of the opening of the new state of the art processing plant in the autumn of 2005. LYSI has long emphasised on intensive research and development and established a certified quality system conforming to the ISO 9001 international standard. Combined with a strong QA system and backed up by the in-house laboratory the company is now API/GMP certified – an important brick in an excellent building is in place.
