Fountain of Youth is a direct translation of the Icelandic name of a new product for the domestic market.
Despite being aimed at people over 50 years of age the product is also suitable for younger generations living in a stressful world. The launch was very successful.
True to its mission of improving health and quality of life LYSI set in motion the development of the new product some four years ago. It was launched in January this year with considerable success; in the six months or so that have passed since the launch, the consumption in Iceland is equivalent to every inhabitant having consumed one dose.
It is a well-known fact that the omega-3 acids have in many ways positive effects on human health. The fish oil in Fountain of Youth is especially rich in DHA, which is particularly important for the brain. In addition to the omega-3 fatty acids a daily dose also contains acetyl-L-carnitine (ALCAR) and alpha lipoic acid (ALA). ALCAR is known to transport fatty acids into the mitochondria to produce energy and ALA is an effective antioxidant reducing cell damage. All in all, the Fountain of Youth comes under what is known as life extension supplement. The product is aimed at slowing down loss of memory and the mental decline that comes with age and it is thought to have positive effect on the heart and cardiovascular system.
As a result of the open arm reception on the Icelandic market LYSI is planning to start offering Fountain of Youth for export. However, the final name of the product has not been decided on yet and it will depend on each market.
