With LYSI’s products in demand worldwide, the company’s processing plant, built in 2005, has now nearly exceeded its capacity.
LYSI’s products have been in substantial demand in recent years, with some 90% of the products sold to markets outside of Iceland. The greatest share of the exports is in bulk and is sold to manufacturers of consumer products all over the world. With this recent growth, and even more growth forecast, added capacity in production has become an urgent necessity.
LYSI is therefore constructing a new production facility of some 4,000 square metres, with equipment that will allow for a doubling of the current production volume.
In addition, office space will be doubled, and there will be space for storage tanks and a warehouse. The equipment will arrive in Iceland in November, at which time it will be assembled, alongside the construction of the new facility. This new addition is expected to be taken into use in spring 2012, bringing the facility’s processing capacity to some 13,000 tons per year, from some 6,000 tons previously.
