LYSI adds 4,500 ton tank capacity for crude oil
The plan is to build three new tanks each with a capacity of 1,500 tons in Thorlákshöfn where LYSI has its cod liver rendering plant. This is an addition to the existing storage capacity which is 2,300 tons.
The new tanks will be used mostly to store imported crude omega-3 oil for further processing in LYSI’s refinery in Reykjavik. The additional tank space is needed after the capacity of the refinery was doubled one year ago. The plan is to take the new tanks into use in October this year.
